Narrative (J.P)

As a group we have decided we would like our music video to have a hard hitting narrative behind Katy Perry's 'Roar', which will consist of a young isolated boy being bullied in school. We have decided to produce this kind of narrative as it goes well with the song, and also that many people could relate to it.

'I used to bite my tongue and hold my breath'

Lyrics like this represents how the young boy is bottling all his feelings up and not telling anyone. These lyrics are throughout the beginning of the music video, where the boy is keeping everything in.

'I am the champion and you're going to hear me roar'

Lyrics like this represent how the young boy has had enough of the bullying, then explodes taking his anger out on the bullies. These lyrics are used when he explodes and stands up for himself.

We have planned our video to start with a young boy in a toilet cubicle, eating his food by himself. This represents the isolation he is experiencing while being bullied. Bullies outside the cubical start kicking the door and shouting at him. He then experiences flash backs from being bullied around the school which are represented in a distorted colour. After he comes back to reality he gets angry at what he has to put up with and explodes with anger. He barges past the bullies and runs to the class room where he kicks a chair over. After he has taken his revenge on the bully the situation is reversed and the bully himself is isolated in the cubical by himself. From this the victims friends praise him and are proud of him for standing up for himself.
