Magazine advert analysis (J.H)

After looking into Katy Perry's magazine adverts I have found that they are all very seductive. So this is what I will be trying to achieve in my magazine advert.

These are two adverts Katy Perry has modeled in, for popchips. In these she has a cheeky seductive look about her, which she seems to go for in all her photos.

This is Katy Perry's advert for her new perfume 'Killer Queen', which is the perfume that I have used in my photos for my digipak. The advert is mostly blacks, whites, reds and golds, which are the colours I will be using to create my digipak, and what I hopefully will be using for my magazine advert.

This is the magazine advert for Katy's digipak 'Teenage Dream' which is the one I have been looking at. Apart from the writing, the advert seems to be completely different to the digipak, due to the colours and detail in the background. For my digipak I am planning for it to look similar to my magazine advert so there is a clear link between the both. In this advert and the one above, she is represented very seductively showing that she is bad, which is why the crown is on the floor and the thrown is on its side, also the dark shoes, tights and hair and the deep reds all adds to the seductive look she is trying to go for. In the advert below she is half naked knelt posing on a bed with heels on looking at the audience, which gives her that seductive look she always seems to go for.

This magazine advert is for Lady Gaga's album 'Fame'. In this the album has been shown, unlike the Katy's advert above, and also has information on how to get the album on your phone. This advert focuses on the fact she is a performer, as it includes her microphone and a lightening bolt of makeup down one side of her face. Although the album is small and its hard to tell, I feel that the advert and album are quite similar, which is what I am going to try and produce, so there is a good connection between them both.

This is Rihanna's magazine advert for her album 'Loud'. The album has been added to the advert and is mostly reds, which I know from analyzing this for my digipak design, but has been faded to pink, which helps it fit in with the theme of the advert. The pink border on the outside helps to focus your attention on the writing and photos of Rihanna. Since this advert is slightly similar to her digipak I will be producing one quite like this myself with the writing being the same as my digipak and the colours being fairly similar.

Existing Katy Perry digipaks (J.H)

After researching into digipaks, I decided to look into Katy Perry's albums and see if she has any digipaks. I found out Katy released a digipak for her album 'Teenage Dreams', which came out in 2010.
The album has a very pink cover, with just a photo of her, her name, and the album name, while the inside is quite dark and plain, but effective, and includes lots of photos of her. I will hopefully be applying this type of layout to my digipak.

Existing digipaks (J.H)

I decided to research into existing digipaks that have recently been released and thought it would be a good idea to analyse three digipaks, using three well known artists. Two of these artists are from a pop genre, and the third artist is a rap artist who's digipak I have at home and have taken my own photographs of.

This is one of Rihanna's digipaks that I have found called 'Loud', which includes two CDs, a lyric booklet, and lots of photographs of her.
The cover and lyric booklet share the same extreme close up of Rihanna's face while she is looking down. The main focal point of the photo is the lips, which are slightly parted and bright red, this along with her bright red hair gives her a seductive look that will appeal to the audience. Around the photo is a silver border, which is also the colour of the writing for her name and the album name.
The inside cover is a long shot of Rihanna lying in a bed of roses spread across the three sections of the digipak. The roses in this are bright red, which match her hair and making it look seductive, while her white wedding like dress makes her look pure, showing the contrast between them both.
The CDs both have a whole rose on them, which match the theme for the digipak.

This is a Britney Spears digipak called 'Femme Fatale', which includes a CD, lyric booklet, and several photos of her.
The cover is a close up of Britney's face, which uses all light colours, and gives it a summer feel. The back cover with the track list is also very light and summery, which makes the digipak look like a happy album.
The inside of the digipak contrasts against the outside as it consists of mostly black and dark colours. Within the inside there is also a long shot of Britney, which is very different from the front cover, as she is grabbing her legs, which gives it a more seductive feel than the outside.

This is a one of Eminem's digipaks that I have myself, which will help me to create my own.
